It’s only July 18, and our Chamber has already had a very active month!
We continue to build on the momentum that we established several months ago. Looking back to June, our Chamber Breakfast Meeting at the Town & Country Resort in Stowe was well attended and well received. I hope that you’ll take a minute to check out this video produced by Heath Eiden of Stowe Media Group. It is a terrific representation of the benefits enjoyed by our members, and Heath has done a fabulous job of documenting the optimism that we are feeling. Thank you to the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department for sponsoring the event, and to Sheriff Marcoux for speaking with us about the status of his department’s initiatives.
Our July Chamber Breakfast Meeting at the Maple House Inn was also wonderfully successful! Kathryn Van Haste, Health Policy Director with the office of Senator Sanders, talked about the Senator’s position and recent changes with respect to health care reform, and we appreciate her willingness to speak with our membership and field our questions. We are also grateful for the Lamoille Economic Development Corp.’s sponsorship.
We are new and improving!
We’ve recently decided to change the name of our Chamber of Commerce to the Lamoille Chamber of Commerce. With all of our recent changes, we think that it’s a great representation of who we are! We are tweaking the logo and will unveil it soon.
With the help of the good folks at VT Web Marketing, 802 Mobile, and Great Big Graphics, who have laid the groundwork for a new website, Jen and I are working on filling out the content and we hope to have it launched soon!
Independence Day Celebration
On July 4, we celebrated Independence Day with hundreds of friends in Jeffersonville. Check out this fun video produced by Irving Payne of Modaja Communications!
Business After Hours
We hope that you’ll join us on Thursday, July 27, at the Morrisville Food Co-op’s current base of operations: 84 Lower Main Street in Morrisville. Click here to register.
Are you ready for Night Golf?
Once again, the Lamoille Chamber of Commerce is changing things up! Instead of “Wack-A-Doo,” this year’s “Max Neal ‘Onward’ Scholarship” fundraising event will feature GOLF AT NIGHT!
On August 11, beginning at 7:00, our Chamber will present its first ever “Night Golf Scholarship Scramble” event at Copley Golf Club. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go toward scholarships for local high school seniors graduating in 2018, to help them further their education in the State of Vermont.
But it’s less about the golf, and all about putting the “fun” in “fundraising!” We’ll have lighted “LED” balls and fairways lined with lights. There will be a putting contest, and prizes for the best costumes and decorated golf carts, as well as other awards.
At 7:30, we’ll be serving a yummy barbecue, and after a brief players’ meeting at 8:15, we’ll light things up and hit the links! At 10:30 you can test your nocturnal putting skills in a contest on the putting practice green, and we’ll finish with an ice cream sundae bar and awards.
This event is designed to appeal to inexperienced and experienced players, so all are welcome to come and play, or to enjoy the spectacle from the comfortable veranda at Copley Golf Club! Non-participants/observers who wish to enjoy the barbecue feast and play in the putting contest will be asked to make a $50 donation to the scholarship fund.
We’re pleased to say that we’ve signed up several sponsors for this event! The Vermont Flannel Company will be sponsoring the gift bags, and so each participant will go home with a terrific Vermont Flannel Co. bag. Smugglers’ Notch Resort is our official Hat Sponsor, and Bourne’s Energy has provided us with some fun items for the swag bag! Also, we’re grateful that Rich Jacobs at Edward Jones Investments will be sponsoring one of our “holes.”
We’re still looking for a lead “Onward” sponsor, we’d be happy to speak with you about additional sponsorship opportunities! We can only accommodate 48 players, and we’ve already sold several teams, so give us a call and register soon!
We’ll also have a silent auction, and donations from our members would be appreciated!
Save the Date for Amazin’ Grazin’!
On Friday, September 15, we’ll be hosting our annual farm to table celebration of our local bounty: Amazin’ Grazin’!
This year, we’ll be teaming up with the folks at the Morrisville Food Co-op (and their local producers), as well as Boyden Valley Winery and others to provide you with an evening of great food and drink, as well as music! Stay tuned for the location!
Sponsorships are available now, so give us a call. Tickets will be available soon.
So, What Else is New?
In addition to workforce development projects that the Chamber is actively participating in as part of the Workforce Investment Board and the Lamoille Jobs Project, we are working on other projects around the county.
The Lamoille Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor the Lamoille Economic Development Corp.’s “Fresh Track Road Pitch.” We encourage our members to attend! Click here for more information.
To promote the fabulous opportunities for fun in Lamoille County, and how easy it is to get here from the New York area, the Lamoille Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with the Morrisville Stowe State Airport, Tradewind Aviation, and Dr. Bob Arnot to create a short video documenting both the fly-in and our local assets.
We invite our members in tourism related industries (including but not limited to craft beer and spirits, lodging, dining/food, retail, the arts, adventure/sports) to send us 2 or 3 photos and/or a very short video clip that best represents what they do! These photos and video footage must be of sufficient quality; high definition is best. Please be advised that we can only use a limited number of photos and just a few seconds of video from any particular source, and decisions regarding what photos/video to use will be made based on the order in which we receive them, the quality of the photograph or video, and how well the photos or video works with the others selected. If your photo/video is selected, we will likely ask you for a 10-14 word description of the photo/your business. Photos must be submitted to email@example.com by July 28 for consideration.
